Location description from owner

The England region

With easy road, rail and airport access, it is the perfect place for a vacation or short break. Using the lodge as a base, you can enjoy the delights not only of Shakespeare's home town, but also the nearby surrounding shire counties of Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. Enjoy Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds to the south, Worcester and the Malverns to the west, Warwick Castle and Henley-in-Arden to the north, and all within easy access of Stratford itself.
You can enjoy the Boat Festival in July with dancing, live bands, craft stalls, fabulous food stalls, its a great weekend for the children as there is a firework display and all the boats and barges all lit up at night trying to out do each other travelling down the river.

The Food festival is on in September with famous chefs on hand to show us how it is supposed to be done!!! With wonderful food and wine to sample.

There is a whole wealth of enjoyable scenery and fascinating places to visit in the Stratford areas. Stratford is a small town surrounded by glorious rural countryside, the colour of which changes from deep greens of spring and winter to the golden harvest yellow of summer and autumn. There are many beautiful small villages each with their own charm and history. The roads and byways are quiet, the natives are friendly and the inns plentiful.

To the South – The Cotswolds. The hills of the Cotswolds of Gloucestershire start just south of Stratford with Chipping Campden, an historic major town. This is the old market town, where woolen merchants traded for hundreds of years. Unaffected by the industrial revolution, you can enjoy old England as it was since the 1700's. The Cotswolds are famous for the honey-blond stone buildings. The whole town of Chipping Campden is built of it, and is a typical example of the entire district.

In the lodge there is an events calender for you to browse with all details and phone numbers of everything going on in Stratford and surrounding areas, including fun things for the children.

Apart from being steeped in history, Stratford-upon-Avon boasts a fantastic shopping, dining and entertainment experience.

From designer boutiques to home made craft and souvenir shops. Restaurants and Bistros to Riverboat dining, and of course the world famous National Shakespeare Theatre featuring legends of stage and screen.

Whether you are after a light lunch or classic cuisine you will find many alternatives to fine dining in and around Stratford-upon-Avon. There are many award winning restaurants providing a wide selection of food to suit all tastes, with a price range to suit every pocket. Guest Reviews

Riverview lodge was a joy to arrive to on a cold, rainy night. Warm, cosy, comfortable and with wine and cake from Irene to welcome us what more could you ask for? The lodge was well equipped, beautifully situated overlooking the river and just a £5 taxi ride into Stratford. It is somewhere we definitely hope to return to!
